Insurance to cover the costs associated with school closures

When the school is closed because of floods, bad weather or heating failure/boiler breakdown, for an annual premium of just £30 we will make a claims payment of £100 per day* that could be used for:

• The costs of time off work
• Childcare
• Your inconvenience

Neil Forrest, Area Managing Director and Partner at Towergate said, "There’s no doubt that unpredictable weather conditions are causing more and more schools to close. This leaves many parents with the hassle of taking time off work or trying to arrange child care at short notice."

School closures insurance costs no more for those parents who live in areas of Britain that are more prone to poor weather. Parents will receive a daily benefit of £100 per child, payable for up to a maximum of five days after the first. The maximum amount payable per child in any one period of insurance is £500. You can also buy this policy if your child attends local nursery schools.

• There is no cover for the first day of each school closure
• The whole school must be closed
• Closures of less than a whole day are not covered
• Cover starts 14 days after purchase of the policy
• Maximum of £500 per policy year
